Damage to edge of road and property frontage, Weston Lane
Reported anonymously at 12:20, Wed 11 May 2016
Sent to Warwick District Council and Warwickshire County Council 6 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 822809.
I am writing to you in relation to two issues on Weston Lane, Weston Under Wetherley. Firstly, there is a problem with the speed limit signs at the Weston Under Wetherley end of Weston lane. Effectively the speed limit signs are the wrong way round, they are showing national speed limit into what should be a 50mph zone and 50mph into what is a national speed limit zone. This issue can be simply rectified by turning the existing signs through 180°. Secondly, just outside my property, Campbells Farm, there is severe erosion of the grass verge caused by heavy vehicles. The problem is that the road curves slightly and as such some tractors and lorries are cutting the curve and causing extensive damage both to the frontage of the property and to the edge of the road. The issue is compounded by the fact that there is an underground telephone junction box just outside the gate that connects most of the telephones on the lane and this is now right at the edge of the road and in danger of damage itself. Not only has the edge of the road been compromised but the size and depth of the gully is a substantial risk to both cyclists and motorists alike, two cyclists having already been thrown from their bikes outside the property. In addition, in bad weather, there is even more erosion as water running down the road washes ever increasing amounts of soil and stones over the road. I believe the remedy to the problem is to insert a length of curbing outside the property at Campbells Farm to ensure agricultural and heavy vehicles stay on the carriageway and don't contently drive off the edge of the road, causing increasing amounts of damage not only to the edge of the road but also the frontage to my property and ultimately the underground phone junction box. There is such curbing further up the lane adjacent to a field that has already been inserted presumably for the same reason. I have attached some pictures so that you can see how serious the problem is and I would be grateful for your feedback. I understand that the issue relating to the 50mph sign has already been reported to you via the following link http://warwickshire.fixmystreet.com/ R/ G9wVRAGzSGcKE6kqC5

Useless. The speed sign has not been altered and since there are 4 field gates ,two at the top of the hill and on a slight bend. I presume the council will be prepared for any accident caused to farm vehicles using those gates to cut silage and hay etc.. With regard to the front of my property nobody has been in contact. You have already had pictures of damage and accidents that have already happened.!!!

Still no response from the council, very poor service and manners. Hopefully the council will get round to looking at this problem soon before another cyclist has an accident.

Repairs have been done further up the lane but this issue has been ignored. It's only a matter of time before another cyclist has an accident!

Nobody has done anything to fix this problem although road repairs have been done a mile up the lane.
