Since resurface water does not go down drain huge puddles number 1-3
Reported in the Flooding or standing water on road category anonymously at 14:55, Sun 27 March 2016
Sent to Warwickshire County Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 795743.
The resurfacing of Helmsdale Rd is great except the road seems to take water away from drains or they are too high. Every time it rains we get huge flood puddles on both side of the road but the biggest between 1 and 3 which sit until they dry up. I suspect this will make a problem with the surfacing eventually but in the meantime is difficult when people get in or out of cars or go to cross the road. This has occurred ever since resurfacing was done.

When I reported the original problem it took almost a year to get the resurfacing done - now it's been done but the roads slant up to the drains so the water doesn't drain away - where the puddles sit the Tarmac is already beginning to crumble!

After 5 minutes of rain the puddles are almost meeting in the middle of the road - deep enough to go into the top of my shoes and almost to the top of the kerb but not able to go up the slope to the drain - this is both sides of the road outside 4 houses! This was today in the sunshine - the reflections of the trees show the water

Yesterday I watched the elderly gentleman over the road sweeping the water up the road to the drain - he expressed his fear for the winter when these huge puddles could be ice and agreed that sadly all the resurfacing will break up and we will be back where we started before they did what otherwise was a lovely job! The picture was taken in sunshine an hour after rain had stopped!

What can I say - the winter is ahead and we still get huge lakes of water sitting in the road for hours after rain while the drains sit in the dry. This will become ice which will turn a messy problem into a dangerous one and the edges of the new surface will break up - no point adding any more photos of the same huge puddles thaough they are there now so I could!

9 months ago I made this complaint and have heard nothing from the council at all! If we get a cold winter this is going to turn into a real hazard and the local older people are very worried about it - they have asked me to add their feelings to this

As you can imagine and our cars with the rain and snow this year this is an ongoing problem - the neighbours are completely fed up of people having to paddle out of their cars. When the water froze it was lethal and our cars were sliding badly. Still a year later we have standing water in huge puddles and drains sitting dry
