Grass verges - Ambleside Road, Bedworth, CV12 8RR
Reported anonymously at 21:11, Thu 10 March 2016
Sent to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Warwickshire County Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 785537.
Motorists are in the habit of parking on the grass verges whilst dropping off and collecting their children from the nearby Canons Primary School in Derwent Road. This inconsiderate parking is drastically damaging the verges, partiarlarly in the current wet weather, and the parked vehicles also pose a danger to young children and mothers with pushchairs because the sight lines are obscured. The headteacher at the Canons Primary School frequently addresses this problem in the school newsletter and expresses concerns a fatality could occur, as child has already been hurt crossing the road. Some months ago the Police sent patrols to warn drivers about illegal parking on the verges and on the corners of pavements but this action has not been repeated for quite some time. I understand a similar problem in Rugby has been prevented by the erection of some sort of picket fencing along the verges. I await your response in anticipation.
