Temporary low bridge sign not displaying
Reported in the Road signs category anonymously at 12:18, Sun 6 March 2016
Sent to Warwickshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 781831.
The temporary sign to warning traffic turning right at the Higham Lane / Hinckley Road junction of the low bridge where Hinckley Road forks to Leicester Road and Old Hinckley Road has been flat on the ground for at least a week. This is not the first time this particular sign has failed. It could be that it is interfered with late at night during the week ends. It needs to be made more permanent to avoid potential accidents.

Attention to the problem was quick but the problem persists because during the weekend the sign was vandalised again. Sign needs to be fixed more permanently at the location. It is a target for people who have been out drinking at the weekend.

The sign is demolished every weekend by local youths who visit a local hostelry. Can the signs be fixed more permanently?

This sign is still flat on the grass verge 7 weeks after it was reported. It gets moved to mow the grass but otherwise is still there.

If the sign was staked into the ground there would be less chance of it being vandalised. I can confirm that only twice during the period since it was originally reported has it been re-erected. It needs checking on a weekly basis preferably at the start of the week.

The sign continued to be vandalised at weekends because of its portable nature. Today, 01/05/2016 ,I could not see the sign. It appears to have been removed from site. It is important that some form of sign is reinstated to alert lorry drivers of the low bridge.

Regular and punctual attention given by WCC but vandals knocked the sign over at weekends. Sign has now been located just after the turn from Higham Lane into Hinckley Road and gives minimum warning of the bridge. Sign is not obvious until vehicles have taken the turn towards the bridge.
