Intentional block public right of way
Reported in the Rights of way category anonymously at 17:20, Sun 5 July 2015
Sent to Warwickshire County Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 657385.
The pathway at the top of Haunch lane has been intentionally blocked so you can't get through the gate. The assumption is it was done by 1daycarsales who apparently have been allowed to use the field every Sunday to sell cars see photo

NWBC received a complaint regarding the same footpath: 'damage and defacing of the public gate on haunch lane close to the junction with the A4097. It has been painted with grease paint, barbed wire has been erected and on market days it is blocked off. Clearly cars repeatedly drive over the footpath on market days as it runs diagonally across the field.' I will inform the complainant that I have forwarded his complaint to you. Thanks

Having done a site visit I can confirm that the right of way entrance gate has been blocked by barbed wire and someone has painted thick tar-like paint over the gate to prevent people entering the field. The photo shows that someone has placed an old sheet across so that people can open the gate without getting dirty. It is clear that someone is trying to stop people. The people who own the filed where the footpath is run car boot sales there on Sundays according to their website, so I assume they don't want people entering the field free of charge through this gate. The owners of the field are Henry James Taroni, Guy Willaim Breeden and Deborah Jayne Breeden of New Park Farm, London Road, Bassetts Pole, Sutton Coldfield B75 6JZ (according to the Land Registry). They have also dumped earth and rubble next to the field entrance on the A4097 (the exit entrance to the car boot) I believe this rubbish is also on the footpath route.
