Traffic concern
Reported anonymously at 15:22, Wed 10 December 2014
Sent to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Warwickshire County Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 555726.
Heavy Good Vehicles are SPEEDING along Bermuda Road - it is becoming dangerous in this residential area - too many HGV's are going too fast with total disregard to speed limits, other road users and pedestrians. The pathway is too narrow in parts and HGV's are mounting the pathway at considerable risk to footpath users. Road calming is needed and signs that the footpath is NOT for cyclists or traffic use. Please do something about this or pass this onto the relevant department. Please do not disregard as someone will be injured soon. I have seen school children run across the road to avoid the HGVs. I have seen walkers at risk of being hit by cyclists on the pathway. This is an increasing problem and people are at risk of injury.

As a resident of Bermuda Road I can confirm this is still happening. This is a residential road with unsuitably large vehicles speeding on it and mounting curbs. Needs traffic calming measures and visits by the Police.

The problem has not been fixed. I have not seen any traffic officers observing the problem. The residential street of Bermuda Road is being mis-used due to the over- lease of warehouses that were due to be demolished several years ago but are now leased again. The HGVs are noisy from 4am until close to midnight every day of the week. Bermuda Road is more than adequate for residential traffic but the HGVs are a constant danger. They mount the pathways, speed along the road, have no regard for local residents. Yesterday, I was walking along the path and due to two HGVs passing one another one mounted the pavement next to me. I have seen this happen to other people, children on bikes cycling to school etc etc. There has been a massive increase in the HGVs with no regard to this once quiet residential area. There has been no effort to resolve the problem. The proposed connectivity project of opening the bridge is opposed by all local people and is seen as only adding further problems to the area. Keep Bermuda Road residential and stop the HGV use. We need action now before a major accident occurs.
