Overhanging bramble at eye level
Reported in the Hedges / trees on rights of way category anonymously at 12:34, Fri 14 August 2020
Sent to Warwickshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2245265.
The pathway is virtually impassable due to the overgrown hedges and bramble. Some of the bramble is sticking out over the path at eye level. Reported this last year, needs to be cut back at least twice a year. If you do come and cut it please ensure that your contractors remove all the debris and not leave thorny branches on the pathway and grass verge. This is between Newquay Close and Truro Close.

This needs cutting back each year, it should be included on a schedule instead of residents having to report it or the councillor having to cut the dangerous bits back himself!!!

I asked the same question to NBBC last year. They said their contractors Glendale can only cut the hedges once a year due to budget cuts and cost restraints. Also they often use the excuse that nesting birds could be in the hedge so they can't cut them. That applies to farmers hedges only, NOT local authorities, so don't fall for that bullshit. Absolutely ridiculous as they are all overgrown and blocking the public footpaths by June each year. What about driver visibility at junctions and pedestrian safety on footpaths? That's the local authorities responsibilty. Two cuts a year as a minimum should be essential - spring and autumn.Glendale only cut them back once anytime from late August to October, which is too late in the year as they are hugely overgrown and out of control by then. A 100 yard section on Eastboro Way between the Camborne Drive junctions near to the Acorn pub has not been cut for over two years! It's now over 20 feet high!! Lol. There are still at least five large hedges that have not been cut at all this year, for example alongside 31-37 Wadebridge Drive. Footpath now very narrow. The maintenance has been very poor for the past 7 years at least.
