20 / 22 The Long Shoot Blocked Drains in the Roadway caused Flooding of driveways on 25 July 2020
Reported in the Flooding or standing water on road category anonymously at 11:50, Sun 26 July 2020
Sent to Warwickshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2217075.
Saturday 25th July 2020 When it rained in the evening. The road drain outside No. 24 The Long Shoot which is a new drain, installed as an element of the works for the traffic lights at the junction of Greendale Road was working as one would expect and taking water from the road. The road drain outside No.20 and other road drains towards Nuneaton were clearly blocked and were not taking water. It appears the drains may have been overlooked and not cleaned for quite a period of time such that they are blocked and preventing the flow of water which should have been flowing down the road drains. There are weeds growing within the covers of some blocked drains, the blockages were causing water to flow off the road, across the cycle path and into the driveways of No. 20 and No. 22 The Long Shoot. Please could the drains be cleaned and also be checked for functionality.

The problem has not been fixed, it has been noted that a new drainage system has been installed some time ago around the traffic lights. The old drainage system remains along most of the road and appears to be in a state of disrepair and lacks any sign of a maintenance regime.

The problem remains, it has not been fixed.
Residents pay money every year for the pleasure of living on a road which is becoming neglected. One can lay awake throughout every night due to the broken road drain cover which is part of the new drainage system that was installed as part of the new drainage system, it has been replaced once and failed again. The cover was positioned so that the cars and trucks run over it with their offside wheel, so premature failure is almost inevitable.
The blocked drains (original ones) and the road drain cover really ought to be attended to!!
