Roadworks and traffic lights with no notice

Hi, we had roadworks set up on the edge of our street since the end of last week. They span the whole junction that leads into our road (Livingstone Avenue) so there are 3-way traffic lights. My problem is not as much with the works, but the fact we weren't given any notice?! It has a major effect on entry and exit to the street, to the point today I was trapped in my street, waiting at the lights and unable to get to work, while a lorry was picking up a pile of rubble for 15 minutes blocking my exit (as per photo). I feel like if we knew what was going on and roughly how long for it would be reasonable to deal with, but it's starting to have a severe knock on effect to just getting in to and leaving home. Having spoken to neighbours I understand they were also not given any notice that this would be taking place.
Notification of works is the responsibility of the company carrying out the work. In this case Cadent Gas. They are not legally obliged to offer individual notifications to households, but at least should put some notification up on the road. They can be contacted on 0161 703 1000 (works ref AZ0101000892400) to ask why they did not notify you.
For info - you can see planned work up to 12 months away on one.network.
