Failure of Traffic Management for Warwick Half Marathon

Reported in the Road works problem category anonymously at 14:58, Monday 2 March 2020

Sent to Warwickshire County Council 2 minutes later

I am reporting the chaos caused for Hatton Park by the so-called traffic management during the Warwick Half Marathon event on Sunday 1st March. There was a catalogue of errors and it was completely unsafe. The marshals did not have a clue how to handle traffic movements while the traffic management company ATM were equally culpable, For example, diverting people off the main road onto the estate to join the queues of cars trying to leave the estate! Signage was unclear and vehicles were using both sides of the coned road and bringing traffic into conflict with the runners. Meanwhile, one of the men from ATM was having a snooze in the cab of his van while all this was going on. This event should not be allowed to happen again on this route if it cannot be properly managed.
