30 mph COUNTDOWN Signs - Incorrect Colour Used
Reported in the Road signs category anonymously at 20:55, Thu 21 November 2019
Sent to Warwickshire County Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1856894.
Bretford, Warwickshire - B4455 - Southbound
When entering the village of Bretford there are THREE sequentially placed rectangular 'countdown' marker boards pre-warning motorists of the commencement of the main 30 mph speed restriction that follows just before the main bend into the village. (My picture shows the first of 3 pre-warning rectangular signs).
They feature the regular 'three-hundred', 'two-hundred' and 'one-hundred' yard warning symbols (slashes). 30 mph is featured in RED.
While the warning boards are very commendable on a straight piece of road, my understanding is that the RED circles featured on the countdown boards is incorrectly signed.
I did not think the RED rings could be legally used on this type PRE-WARNING information board. Any other colour would be acceptable. Some counties I have noticed use black or grey rings.
The only time a RED ring should be used is when the official speed limit BEGINS.
It is simply confusing to motorists when the colours of signs are at variance with their actual legal meaning.
Can this suspected colour discrepancy please be checked?
