Pedestrians in the road

Reported in the Hedges / trees on rights of way category by Sam Chesney at 14:39, Wed 24 July 2019

Sent to Warwickshire County Council 1 minute later

The diversion in place from week commencing 22/09/2019 directs pedestrians and cyclists to use the footpath on the west side of the carriageway on Banbury Road directly opposite Warwick Preparatory School however as this path is obstructed by overgrown trees and hedges there is no choice but to walk in the road facing oncoming traffic.

  • Since July this has grown back and it is impossible to walk along here with an umbrella up. Also the surface is not secure and dangerously muddy. During bridge works earlier this year a proper traffic controlled crossing was set up. Why is this not provided here? Pedestrians should not be asked to cross 40mph traffic in driving rain with no protection.
