Hazards created by poor signage on island

Reported in the Road signs category by Matthew Westbury at 00:55, Sat 1 June 2019

On Westfield road there is an island that is widely regarded as being a one way, roundabout style system. It is even shown as being one way on various paper maps as well as Google and Apple maps.

A couple of months ago people started regularly driving what would be the wrong way around said roundabout. This issue was previously 'solved' by placing a sign to warn drivers of two way traffic despite the keep left signs from both directions. I believe that this only highlights the issue rather than preventing the hazard entirely. My solution to this issue would be to remove the two way sign and replace it with a keep left sign opposite to the offset houses, therefore ensuring that all drivers have the same understanding of the system and helping to prevent accidents and collisions. Due to the proximity to multiple primary schools and the high foot-fall of young children and parked cars that come with said proximity, this issue should be taken very seriously and resolved quickly before a collision has more severe consequences.
