I assume these metal plates gave historical access cellars for the former Green Dragon pub which has now been demolished. They seem to have sunk a little compared to the footpath. Here, you are on Greenhill str looking toward the Greenhill / Arden str intersection. Alcester Road moves into the distance ahead of you and Arden str is just visible to your right. Note the deterioration in the footpath where it runs along the site boundary. I assume the two metal plates visible in the footpath were originally delivery points for the pub - so there must be a stairwell / tunnel underneath them. Those plates have begun to sink in recent months and I am concerned that their structural supports beginning to fail. The footpath is narrow as this point, given the rubbish bin, road barriers and traffic lights - so you can get very heavy pedestrian congestion right on those plates as people to struggle to get past each other. I now avoid walking on those metal plates for safety reasons. In addition, that same spot on the footpath used to have the street level signage for Arden street, set into the footpath paving. That sign and associated pipe work has been removed, further weakening the integrity of the footpath. (If the Council have removed the sign and don't want it, may I have it as a souvenir :-) ).
