Bellway development blocking R167 public footpath
Reported in the Rights of way category anonymously at 10:51, Wed 31 May 2017
Sent to Warwickshire County Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1045797.
Bellway contractors are erecting a metal fence that is blocking R167. The site office is aware of the issue but have told the contractors to carry on. The contractors are also aware of the problem and have refused to stop. The current state of the footpath is dangerous.

This heavily used right of way from Bilton to Cawston Woods continues to be blocked despite protests to the contractor. Please take action. The contractors have a requirement to divert the right of way as per the planning permission so this should take priority before works are started. Notice should also be given if a right of way is being temporarily blocked or diverted.

I spoke to Bellway this morning and they are aware that blocking this footpath is illegal. All they need to do is to more the steel fencing at the bottom of the field back 2 yards so the footpath-very clearly trodden, is freed up.

I have recently been in touch with RBC over the advertised stopping up order for this footpath. The new route (though Cawston House locked metal gates) is not available and no stopping up order should be allowed until the proposed diversion is fully accessible. The legal footpath is still closed and the diversion around the field edge is very muddy at the field bottom.
