Cyclists not dismounting over pedestrian footbridge

Reported anonymously at 16:25, Fri 15 May 2020

Cyclists continue to ride over this pedestrian footbridge on a frequent basis despite signs saying "No Cycling". This is dangerous and has resulted in a number of near misses with pedestrians including young children. There are no barriers at one end (Clarendon Road) to force cyclists to dismount and the other end (Farmer Ward Road) they are in a state of disrepair. It may be beneficial for barriers to go up at either end of the footbridge with additional signing and markings on the surface "No Cycling" As this bridge is staggered it has two "Pinch Points"(one at the Clarendon Road entrance and one at the top of the bridge) where you can not see what is coming around the bend. This is where near misses have occurred where pedestrians have been forced to jump out of the way for cyclists who should not be riding over this footbridge. Please look into this before a child or elderly individual is struck by a cyclist and provide additional measures to force cyclists to dismount and follow "No Cycling" instructions. Thank you.
