Tarmac to verge issue

Reported anonymously at 15:21, Mon 11 February 2019

On the outside of the bend the tarmac is uneven and in some instances is insufficiently widd. The verge therefore gets used when two vehicles from opposit directions travel the bend at the same time. There needs to be a widening of the road (about a metre) with a defined curb so that (a) vehicles coming from Chadwick End do not stray onto and across the white line. The kerb on the inside of the bend is very high so any cars travelling towards Chadwick End cannot mount the kerb in order to avoid on-coming traffic. As buses, refuse trucks and indeed lorries use this road - and may not know about the tight bend before traversing it - there is a continual danger of a crash. Indeed, I had one myself in the Spring of 2016 when I had to break very sharply as a refuse truck coming from Chadwick End was way over the centre line, and someone hit me from behind as he was too close to stop. Since then, there have been numerous near misses of which I have been made aware. So, action is needed. It is not a huge piece of work but one that will make the bend around the Parish Church significantly safer.
